Learning Leaves is the name of our school forest project. Together with companies and schools, we create a green and inspiring learning environment for children. And we bring both worlds into contact with each other. By creating a biodiverse Miyawaki forest – i.e. a compact smart forest – on a school site, we literally do good for the next generation. We build a healthier place where students can learn, play and discover nature. You combine ecological impact, education and social engagement.
Together you create a natural place that promotes well-being, concentration and creativity. And wow! In this case, you literally do this for the next generation, the adults of tomorrow.
When the forest has had time to grow, interesting measurements are carried out. Together with UGent, we investigate biodiversity, water management and experiential value, among other things. This way we acquire new data and insights together.
Students receive a lesson package and learn about the power of nature, sustainability and cooperation. They also come into contact with the business world and can experience your company's social engagement themselves.
The forest grows into a resilient piece of nature that will exist for generations.
We often plant the forest in a school where many children of employees go. A matter of bringing people together locally and across generations.
Children who grow up with experiences in nature develop a stronger bond with the environment and later show more environmentally conscious behaviour.
Students at 'green' schools score better on concentration tests and show less stress and fewer mental health problems.
A green environment stimulates higher cognitive functions, social skills and creativity.
