•In January 2025, we launched our Learning Leaves project, in which we are working with a company to plant a mini forest in a school. Eneco was the first to take part, planting a small forest in BA De Beemden in Mechelen.
As you know, more and more companies are investing in local biodiversity. They do so because they attach importance to the ecological aspect (E). But don't underestimate the magical power of the local aspect. We have also noticed that the social component (S) is becoming increasingly important for companies: connecting with each other.
And that is exactly where Learning Leaves comes in.
Because Learning Leaves is so much more than just planting a forest. With Learning Leaves, Forest Forward offers companies the unique opportunity to invest in a green, biodiverse future together with schools. By planting fast-growing Miyawaki forests on school grounds, we are building a healthy, inspiring living environment that allows young people and nature to flourish.
Connecting businesses with the future’ is exactly what we do at Learning Leaves.
And... anyone who joins us in this journey enjoys more than one benefit:
At the beginning of January, we launched this project together with Eneco at BA De Beemden, a fantastic school in Mechelen.
Take a look and listen below to what Eneco CEO Bert Clinckers and Bart Somers, mayor of Mechelen, have to say about it (Dutch video).
And finally, once the forests have reached a reasonable level of growth within two years, Ghent University will monitor them and conduct research into air quality, etc.
